Mu Sang – Yu Sang "Making it real!"
My teacher Grandmaster H.C Hwang once told me about a concept called ‘Mu Saeng – Yu Saeng which means invisible and visible. Mu Saeng is related to invisible things thoughts for example are an invisible thing. Yu Saeng are things you can see actions, objects etc. All visible things started out as an invisible thing. For example take this computer or paper you are reading this from. It had to be a thought in someone’s head first, an invisible thing.

  As we close on 2007 and begin 2008 I'd like to share a story with you.

The Builder

Once upon a time in ancient China, there was a builder who worked exclusively for the King. For several decades, he designed and built many houses and structures for royalty and nobility, and now he was getting ready to retire.

One day, the King summoned him to the royal court. "I understand you will soon be enjoying your well-deserved retirement, after so many years of hard work," said the King.

Honor the Past, Create the Future

Gwa geo jun gyeong – Mi rae chang jo

Since civilized mankind’s inception, there have been few who had the vision to see the positive potential and disastrous consequences of society’s present actions. We reap the actions of our ancestors and our children will reap the actions we sow now. What we sow our children will reap.

This is why we must ‘Honor the past and create the future’ by honoring the past we take both the positive and negative lessons history has passed on to us.
