I know how you feel. I spent years researching different meditation methods and after also being disappointed about what was out there I wrote this book compiling the different methods I learned.

One of the unique aspects of this book is it's two way approach. The book comes with a special binuaral beat audio download which actually can synchronize your mind with the sounds on the audio and guide it from Beta through Alpha down to Theta (Delta is deep sleep and not meditation) Theta is the level experienced meditators can achieve with practice. With this audio you can get there simply by listening. The second approach is to teach you various methods to reach that level on your own. Each person has a different learning modality (visual, Kinesthetic, Audio) so various methods are detailed.

I enjoyed the practical aspect (how to do it) of Master Segarras book which was better in that regard than most other books I have read on meditation. My wife also used the book and found it helpfull.
As for the audio, I haven't persisted enough with that one to comment.

'Guarding the Three Treasures' and 'The Tao of Health, Sex and Longevity' by Daniel Reid are good books that introduce and fully explain taoist meditation and qigong techniques amongst (a lot) of other things. Personally I believe taoist meditation to be the best for martial artists as many taoists practiced martial arts as well.

I have also had some excellent experiences using binaural tones. You can download heaps of these from the app store if you have an iPhone.

The problem with most meditation methods/books/audios out there are either they require a lot of practice and time to experience the results or with the case of Binural beats give you results but you need the audio to experience them and become dependent on it.

In my book we give you a binural beat audio AND show you methods specific to your modality of learning AND explain scientifically why it works.

This approach lays a solid foundation for you, you get to experience the deeper levels of meditation via a scientific shortcut (binural beats), learn a method where you can achieve this without binural beats on your own anytime, anywhere and the science behind it is explained so there is no leap of faith necessary, it works, period.

I've had soldiers in the middle east use the book, convicts in prison use the book and all reported a dramatic impact on their lives. Your situation does not get any worse than being in hell holes like that but the methods provided in the book actually helped them. If it works under those conditions then it will work for anyone anywhere.
